Sign up to Christmas Tree Recycling Service and support hospice care

It's the most wonderful time of the year; decorations are being hung, the sparkling lights switched on and the Christmas tree is taking centre stage in our homes. 

But as the New Year approaches, Saint Francis Hospice is calling on residents in Havering and Brentwood to think green and make the magic go a bit further by signing up to its Christmas Tree Recycling service.

The charity, which gives experienced palliative and end of life care to local people when they need it, will collect and recycle your real tree in return for a donation so you have one job less to worry about once the festivities are over.

What's more, Saint Francis Hospice will be collecting trees in Brentwood for the first time, as well as most postcodes in Havering.

"We're thrilled West and Coe Funeral Directors are sponsoring our Christmas Tree Recycling service so we can reach out to even more residents this year," said Lisa Denison from the fundraising team at Saint Francis Hospice.

"In 2019, our wonderful team of volunteers collected over 1,000 trees and raised more than £12,000 - this year we're hoping to go even bigger by collecting 2,500 trees and raising £25,000 for patient care.

"So if you have real Christmas tree, please sign up today and you will be making a difference to the lives of people in our community."

Plans are in also in place to ensure the service can go ahead, even if restrictions do come into force over the festive period.

The collection will take place over the weekend of Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th January.

To take part, you must book your tree collection by Tuesday 4th January.
