As many of you are now aware, our dear Rosie sadly passed away here in the hospice on Monday 15th January 2024.

Rosie was known by many people here as a volunteer complementary therapist, and more latterly as a patient.

She began volunteering as a complementary therapist over 20 years ago. She was one of the first volunteers for complementary therapies, before there was even a complementary therapy team at the hospice. At this time, she worked alongside the physio team providing complementary therapies for patients, carers and staff.

Rosie was a person who loved to give to others. Nothing was ever too much. She always had a sunny smile and a way of making you feel better. Her energy was boundless and always very positive.

Reiki Rosie

Rosie was affectionately known to some as ‘Reiki Rosie’.  Although she was qualified in massage and reflexology as well, reiki was her passion. She loved nothing more than giving her positive energy to others to improve their well-being.

When she was diagnosed with cancer, she continued to live her life as fully as possible. Still wanting to give to others and make the most of every moment.

Despite being desperately unwell, she managed to travel to Spain a few more times to visit the place she loved and see the many friends she had made there. Her friends in Spain actually held a tai chi session on the beach in her memory when they heard that she had died.

Rosie will be dearly missed by so many people, all of whose lives she touched, either by giving complementary therapies, teaching tai chi or as a patient herself.
