Alan's Hospice vibe

"You feel the incredible vibe of the Hospice as soon as you go through the gates. I really missed that feeling when I was out of action," he recalled.

"When I retired, I wanted to do something worthwhile. I had time on my hands, and time is one of the things I can give. As a volunteer driver, I get the pleasure of experiencing the patients' incredibly positive attitudes."

Alan is calling for more people to join him in chauffeuring our patients to and from Pemberton Place at our Hospice, where we support people at any stage of a life-limiting illness.

"If you have the time and transport, please try to help. There is a need, and there is a shortage."

At Pemberton Place, our patients feel the benefits of anything from physio, massages, beauty treatments, and getting their hair cut to art classes and putting the world to rights over a brew.

We want to win the fight against loneliness and isolation among people living with life-limiting illnesses in our local boroughs. By becoming a volunteer driver, you'll be making a huge difference to our patients' lives.

You'll also be saving them from the difficulties, discomfort, and anxieties of driving or boarding public transport. We work around our drivers' commitments outside of the Hospice. The shifts and hours are flexible, and we cover petrol costs.

If you'd like to find out more about becoming a volunteer driver, we'd love to hear from you on 01708 758614.
