Ann Appleton 69, gives up five days a week to run the book section in our store while her husband Barry, 72, carries out safety checks on electrical donations once a week.
And they were delighted to receive a Civic Award from the Mayor of Havering, Cllr Dilip Patel, during a special ceremony at the Town Hall in Romford on 4th April.
"We were really surprised and very honoured," said Ann.
"We were involved in fundraising for the Hospice before it even opens and setting up the store.
"We really wanted to do our bit to help as we know how much people need its services and how much money it needs to raise every year.
"I really enjoy my role and the best part is meeting customers when they come in and having a chat."
Store Manager Mary Banks said she was incredibly proud of Ann and Barry.
"25 years volunteering is a very long time and they are a great assess to my team," said Mary.
"I'm so pleased they received this award - it is very well deserved!"
Cllr Patel said the Civic Awards are an opportunity for the Borough to recognise the dedication and hard work of people in the community.
"During my time as mayor I have come across so many inspirational people that dedicate themselves to worthy causes in their community," he added.
